Cons? There are no cons!
Well, if you've made it to the point of hiring in a track car you've probably well considered the contracts. Here are a few things you will have/should have considered.
KM limits - most companies apply a limit of @ 200km per day of hire - about enough for about 10 laps. Anything over attracts higher 'per lap' charges.
Insurance excesses. A typical excess on a Clio 197 Cup from RSR Nürburg will be @ €8000. You can pay for additional insurance to bring this down to about €2000. Quotes vary from company to company. We've hired a GT3 RS with a sobering €50k excess.
Insurance will only ever be third party liability. You will typically remain liable for any damage you cause to the hire car - up to the excess.
You remain liable for any other costs, such as damage to the 'road furniture' (armco) and all other costs applied by Nürburgring GmBH.
You still pay for fuel and laps.
